I have been licensed in the State of Washington since 1991; in Federal Court since 1993 and various Tribal Courts since 1997. Aggressive litigation is my specialty and I am in court, somewhere, almost every day.
The law license for State of Washington qualifies you as "an Attorney and Counselor at law", and I take both aspects of that license seriously. If you have ever been in a courtroom, you know it can be highly impersonal and cold. So my policy is to communicate with each client in terms they can easily understand. I want to make sure every client understands the court process and never leaves my office or the court house with un-answered questions. I make sure each client's dignity is respected, regardless of their legal situation, their race, religion, sex or national origin.
As to my other qualifications, in addition to the Juris Doctorate all lawyers must have in the U.S., I also have a Master of Laws (LL.M.) degree. I have interned at the Center for Constitutional Rights in New York City and the Overseas Private Investment Corporation in Washington DC. I've been a special consultant for the Saginaw Chippewa Tribe in Michigan, represented the Havasupai Tribal Election Board in Tribal Court in Supai, Arizona; spent six weeks in Mexico City at the University of San Diego Law School Institute for International and Comparative Law; and been on the staff of the Journal of Environmental Law and Litigation. I have gotten a client a civil award of one hundred thousand dollars, prevented the deportation of a brain damaged client to Mexico, and gotten numerous not guilty verdicts and dismissals in criminal cases of all kind. I am also fluent in Spanish.
